Devlog - Week 10

This Week - Alpha Playtests

This week we conducted alpha playtests with some first year students. This was a very valuable experience as this was the first time we had outside players playing a version of the game with a complete start-through-finish.

Since our previous devlog, we have completely overhauled the Day 1 minigame, which was working as the receptionist and making sure patients has the correct details. Effectively, this was an entirely new version of this minigame. The feedback we received recommends we add more variety to the options available and make time more of an important factor. I agree with this feedback and would like to make these changes as I think it will make the game a whole lot more enjoyable.

For the second minigame, which is still awaiting its full overhaul, we received a lot of the same feedback we had previously. The game is confusing, and difficult to puck up, but once player's understood they seemed a lot more engaged in the challenge. I may make some changes to this game to remove the player movement and instead make it more point and click focused, and of course implement more assets for visual clarity as that (And the fact that my L's looks like S's, apparently) tripped up quite a few players who thought they were doing well, making them frustrated.

Other than that, It's time to just begin the final tier of polish for this game.
